Specialized High Schools Admissions Test
The Specialized High Schools Admissions Test (SHSAT) is administered in October and November of each year to eighth and ninth grade students of New York City. The test is used to determine admission to New York City's Specialized High Schools. On average more than 30,000 students take this test annually.

Test Format
The SHSAT test is divided in two sections, English and mathematics. Both sections consist of multiple-choice questions. There is no break in between the sections or in the test. Electronic calculators and other calculation devices may not be used during the test.
Verbal: 45 Multiple Choice Questions
30 Reading Comprehension (5 Reading passages with 6 questions each)
10 Logical Reasoning questions
5 Scrambled Paragraph (worth 2 points each)
